1) Finishes That Disappear

• Match the door hardware finish (matte black on dark doors, satin on light wood). Shiny chrome = "look at me."
• Use low-contrast keypads (dark on dark, light on light) to avoid telegraphing code pads from the path.

2) Keypad Brightness Policy

• Night mode: momentary backlight only on tap; no idle glow or pulsing LEDs.
• Disable confirmation beeps; rely on haptic/visual cues (neighbor diplomacy matters).

3) Sightlines = Free Security

• Trim vegetation in a 6–10 ft cone around the entry; clear line of sight from the main path.
• Mount a down-cast solar light above the handle — enough to see, not enough to advertise.

4) Glass Lite & Curtain Tactics

• For doors with lites, add privacy film to the lower half so keypad entries aren't visible from outside.
• Use a side curtain inside the door to block direct views of the keypad hand movement.

5) Fingerprint Smudge Hygiene

• Wipe the keypad weekly; smudge patterns reveal digits.
• Use longer PINs or scramble keypad option if supported.

6) Low-Profile Wiring

• Route power inside the hinge side when possible; exterior runs advertise upgrades.
• Paint conduit to match cladding; label inside, not outside.
