Quarterly Maintenance Ritual (Tiny Edition)
Ten minutes, once a quarter. Quiet hardware, happy neighbors.
1) Torque & Rattle Hunt
- Check escutcheon, strike, and handle screws; blue threadlocker if drift seen.
- Paint-mark heads for fast visual checks later.
2) Lube & Clean
- Light PTFE/silicone on latch/bolt; wipe excess. Graphite in key cylinder.
- Clean keypad surface to erase fingerprint patterns.
3) Battery & Power
- Test battery under load; replace before fail. If 12→5 V, verify 5.0–5.2 V during actuation.
- Inspect connectors; reseat quick-disconnect; confirm strain relief is intact.
4) Alignment & Cycle Test
- Lock/unlock 10× morning and afternoon (temp swing). Adjust strike if any scrape or hesitation.
5) Code Hygiene
- Rotate master PIN; delete stale guest/trade codes.
- Verify night mode: no beeps, dim LEDs, no idle glow.
Service Card Update
Inside the door cavity: date, actions, voltage reading, parts replaced. Future you loves documentation.
A tiny ritual that prevents big headaches. Put a reminder on your calendar and forget the rest.
